Benefits of Digital TV

Digital Television (DTV) is a broadcasting technology transforming television reception to a much higher quality than we have previously known it.

By transmitting the information used to make a TV picture and sound as "data bits" (similar to a computer), a digital broadcaster can carry more information than previously currently possible with analogue broadcast technology.

The difference between analogue and digital broadcasting is similar to that experienced between compact discs [CD] and cassette tapes - with CD providing a much greater quality.

Digital TV therefore offers a better viewing experience with vastly improved picture and increased quality of sound.

DTV is also more efficient and versatile than analogue TV technology so broadcasters will be able to produce additional signals using the DTV system.
